Was a $1,000 Lusintun AliExpress ATC CNC spindle a scam? Spoiler: no. Here’s my detailed review of the BT30 3.5kW 8-pole 18000RPM spindle — from unboxing and inspection to vibration testing and troubleshooting.
4-Pole vs 8-Pole Motor
Based on my usage — aluminium, plastics, and steel milling — the 8-pole was more fitting.
Initial Issues — The Tool Holders
Every time I ran above 8000-10000 RPM I felt serious vibrations. The issue turned out to be the NBT30 tool holders provided by the seller — not the spindle itself. I purchased a Mitutoyo dial indicator to verify: the spindle met the runout spec with ease.
Conclusion
Despite the initial tool holder challenges, the spindle is good quality, runs smoothly, and has plenty of power. The customer service from Lusintun was excellent. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the market for an ATC spindle on a budget.
